What a fun family!  Janna owns a pet grooming business down in Chevy Chase called Janna’s Pet Grooming on Romany.  I got hooked up with her through the photography I’ve done for her friends Maggie and Thida.  Before even hiring me for her own family work, she referred Kerri and Jesse to me for a September wedding.  That’s awesome!  When she contacted me about photographing her and Michael’s kids, she said, “Our kids are ages 2,4,6,8, and 10. If you can work with that, you’re the best.”  I’m so up for challenges.  :)

From the get-go, our plan was to have fun.  We started off at the Bell House in downtown Lexington, made our way past the Lexington Children’s Theatre, and then finished up with the fountains at Triangle Park.  Everybody kicked off their shoes, and we let the kids be kids for pretty much the entire session.  Of course, there were times where we grouped everyone together for more posed shots, but I really think that some of the best ones in this series are the ones where the kids are totally relaxed.  They may be in kid-sized bodies, but they’ve got BIG personalities!  I love it!

Wow.  What a wedding!  I really loved the engagement shoot with Nate and Amanda a couple months ago, so I just KNEW that this wedding was going to be a fun one.  Their families and friends are fun and laid back, so the entire day was just perfect.  I started off the day with Amanda at Christy’s Studio on Main in Nicholasville, and we enjoyed a nice leisurely pace the rest of the morning, going to her parents’ lovely home to meet up with the girls for makeup.  My second shooter Scott met up with the guys at the Embassy Suites before we all cruised on over to Southland Christian Church.  Amanda and Nate chose to do what so many couples are doing now, which is having their “First Look” moment early in the day rather than during the processional.  This is SUCH a great thing.  Not only did we get to really nail down all of the formal shots in one quick setting, but we had some extra time to take Nate and Amanda off for some fun portraits alone.  We finished way ahead of schedule, so the wedding party had a good 45 minutes of relaxation before the start of the ceremony.  Immediately after the ceremony, there was no break in the flow of the day’s events.  All of the formals had already been captured, so Nate and Amanda enjoyed their time with guests in the receiving line before leaving straight for the reception.  Once at Fasig-Tipton, we had some time to play outside without keeping the guests waiting for long at all.  Oh, and the wedding was on Derby Day.  Nate and Amanda not only planned time for the derby to be viewed by all of the guests on the overhead tvs, but they also placed bets on behalf of all of the guests in advance.  What a great time!  Central Cateringprovided great food as always, and the music and events were timed perfectly with the help of Tony Wright.  Make sure to check out the slideshow by clicking HEREor on the play button below.  All of the images will soon be ready to view.  You can go ahead and pre-register HERE (easy-just need your email address), and you’ll be notified once the images are ready.  Thanks for dropping by!  :) -SR

Kerri and Jesse are hilarious. Sometimes I feel like I’m pushing the envelope a bit with my crazy sense of humor (or lack thereof), but these two were totally ready to have some fun during our engagement session. Once we did some initial shots over off 2nd street here in Lexington, they popped into deSha’s for a quick pick-me-up. I followed with my camera for some shooting, but not shooting. Not that I didn’t want to. I just wanted to be on my best game for the rest of the session. :) We finished up out off of Ironworks. I love the sequence of shots at the end. The looks they were giving each other were HOT HOT HOT! Cool folks, for sure, and I just know that their September 20 wedding at Spindletop (ceremony & reception) is going to be incredible. I had a blast hanging out with Allison and Nick! Our engagement shoot started off downtown Lexington and finished up out at Fasig-Tipton, where we crossed a raging stream (okay, so it wasn’t raging…more of a trickle I suppose). Anyhow, we got to hang out with some cool horses on the other side, so it was totally worth it. Allison and Nick are getting married July 26 of this year. Their wedding ceremony will be at the gorgeous Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and their reception will follow at the Red Mile, where chef Matt Falcone will be serving up some of his always-yummy food. They’re an awesome couple, Allison and Nick, and I’m really glad I get to be their wedding photographer! For the slideshow, you can go HERE or click on the play button below. Proofs will be available very soon. In the meantime, feel free to preregister to see all of the images by going HERE and signing up (only an email address is needed so that you can be notified). Thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to comment if you have a sec. Bye! -SR

Jennifer and Nick are so in love.  You can just tell.  We had a good time Monday night, starting off downtown and finishing up out at Fasig-Tipton.  They didn’t even seem to mind when a landlord downtown ran us off his property.  The nerve!  :)

Their July wedding ceremony will be at Porter Memorial Baptist Church here in Lexington.  The reception is at Keeneland, where they booked both the Lexington and Kentucky rooms up on the fourth floor overlooking the racecourse and countryside.  Great choice!

Okay, so you regular readers know that I’m a real sucker for fresh food, good coffee, and free wi-fi. Panera and Cosi are my regular hot spots, so I’m really excited to announce the opening of the AWESOME Calistoga Cafe. The ambiance is cozy and hip, and the food is amazing. I’m dying to get back there and kick out in a comfy chair in front of the two story fireplace.

One of the managing partners hired me to come out and photograph the grand opening, so for the slideshow, click HERE .  The slideshow will take 15-20 seconds to load, so be patient!  :)  Thanks for dropping by.  -SR
