Here’s a little something I stumbled back upon recently. It really resonates with me. How about you?
Here’s a little something I stumbled back upon recently. It really resonates with me. How about you?
So I’m on my way out the door to photograph a family in Elizabethtown, and I just wanted to quickly post some new pics of our own family. I love my life. I have a supportive wife who gives me room to dream, and she’s simply the best mom and wife ever. Carson is a riot. He keeps us in stitches. I cherish my job as his father, and I can’t wait to get back from E-town and hang out with him and Katie these next couple days. On this Labor Day weekend, I hope you, too, will enjoy your time with family and friends. See you soon! -SR

THANK YOU to Catherine, Katy, and Kelley for bringing me onboard. I had a blast running around with you all. I’m loving this gig. :) Enjoy the slideshow!
We go to the Louisville Zoo all the time. Carson likes the crocodiles and alligators, Katie likes the giraffes, and I enjoy spending time with the primates. Bert and Ernie got to hang out with the birds last week, much to the birds’ surprise.

The peacock was being stealthy. Could it be that it wanted one of Carson’s goldfish crackers?

I love this shot.

Carson’s favorite spot. We went back 3 times that day.

Bert and Ernie were still a little upset with me after having placed them on the ledge with the birds, so I arranged for them to have a quick massage before heading home. We’re cool now.

Katie’s mom met up with us while we were there. Good seeing you, Ga-Ga!

THANK YOU to Rayna at Always Planned for asking me to be part of her parents’ 30th anniversary party at the Hunt-Morgan House here in Lexington. Rayna and I went to the same high school in Mt. Sterling and now have both ended up working in the wedding and event industry. She’s a fabulous bridal consultant and event planner, so be sure to think of her when you’re dreaming of how to pull off that next big event.
Congrats to Jim and Leigh! 30 years of marriage is a wonderful thing. Nick and Rayna are both incredible people and I know you two must have been a great example to them on how to live life.

Jennifer, the associate director of the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, invited me out to document their 1st Annual Reunion. I cannot describe to you how inspiring it is to be around these folks. Good people.
The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge fills a very important need in the lives of those undergoing cancer treatments, providing free rooms and meals to those living outside Lexington, who need cancer treatments. Sometimes commuting is simply not possible. You might wanna look into helping out, whether financially or with your time. More information can be found HERE .

Yay! Tonight I’m posting the highlights slideshow from a sweet wedding I shot on August 2nd. Kristin and Josh had their ceremony at the wonderfully bright and open Centenary United Methodist Church. Julie Scoggins is the coordinator there, and consistently does a wonderful job with the details. Nice work, Julie! After a quick stop in Triangle Park (fun shots there, btw), the happy couple arrived at Fasig-Tipton, where Central Catering turned out a terrific meal as usual. Thanks, JD, for putting me a plate aside!
Here’s the vendor run-down:
Hair: Ann at Salon Plaza (Southland Drive)
Makeup: MAC (Mitch Cartwright is awesome/859.271.7223)
Flowers: Karen Taylor

Carson seemed to be feeling a bit better after having a cold over the weekend, so Katie and I packed him up and took him to visit the horses at Masterson Station Park. He uses the word nay for horse, and he even likes distinguishing between sizes of horses by calling them each a bigga-nay or a baby-nay. I know I’m biased, but he’s pretty dang cute.
Here’s Carson on his way to the park to see the horses. Notice that he brought his own horse. Also, can you see his little photo album? Katie and I rotate through new pictures of whatever we’ve been doing together most recently. Right now, he’s got it loaded with shots from our beach trip, or the beesh as he calls it.

Visiting with a miniature horse was our first stop. I thought it was really cool, but Carson wasn’t impressed. He quickly asked for the bigga-nay instead.

Gorgeous light falling on my gorgeous fam.

My boy sure knows how to pick ‘em.

I love this shot.

Kind of cool, right?

That’s it! I’d better run. I just dropped into Cosi for a quick coffee and blog on my way to my next appointment. Come back really soon, though, as I hope to get Kristin’s and Josh’s highlight slideshow up from their August 2nd wedding here in the next couple days. We got some sweet shots. Thanks for dropping by! -SR
Allison and Nick have been so personable from the get-go, that, by the time their wedding rolled around, I already felt at home around them. That type of working relationship makes for GREAT wedding photography. Thanks, you two, for being so awesome!
They live outside Cincinnati but chose to have their wedding here in Lexington, wanting their family and friends to experience some of the cool horsey-vibe we have around here. The ceremony was at Mary Queen and the reception was at the Red Mile, now one of my favorite spots to shoot. THANK YOU to Matt and Angie Falcone, the owners of Bayou Bluegrass Catering, who handled the reception beautifully. The food was superb, as usual, and the venue itself is a photographer’s dream. I can’t wait to get back there!

Thanks to Jennifer Stivers showing off her family’s slideshow at work, I got to meet up with another really sweet family last week for some family portraits. Christopher sure is a cutie! At 14 months, he is really on the move. :) So much fun. Thanks, Carrie and Trey, for being so nice to work with. I enjoyed our conversation, and I’ll look forward to talking with you again. Welcome to Lexington!
