Thanks to Jennifer Stivers showing off her family’s slideshow at work, I got to meet up with another really sweet family last week for some family portraits.  Christopher sure is a cutie!  At 14 months, he is really on the move. :)  So much fun.  Thanks, Carrie and Trey, for being so nice to work with.  I enjoyed our conversation, and I’ll look forward to talking with you again.  Welcome to Lexington!

I love the Tippets!  :)  I recently helped them with selling their Lexington home and buying their new place in Richmond (my other job is in real estate).  They’re fans of my photography, so as a closing gift, I told them that I would treat them to a family portrait session.  It means alot to me when I get to photograph people I know.  You photographers out there know what I’m talking about, right?  It’s really a way to give of yourself and produce something that really lasts—a collection of memories.

Thank you Jared, Niki, Tyler, Clark, and Benson.  Let’s get together soon!  :)

I recently had the privilege of meeting u71308p with Kim Colley for a portrait session.  Kim and I know each other from our UK days, but have since been a bit out-of-touch.  Out of the blue recently, she contacted me about shooting her headshots for the Actors Guild of Lexington website.  It’s there that she works as the Stage Production Manager, overseeing all of the behind-the-scenes work.  Kim just wrapped up working on The Merry Wives of Winsor, which was part of this year’s Shakespeare at Equus Run series.

Another nice surprise was when I received, just a couple days after our shoot, a sweet thank-you note and a gift card to Panera—my favorite place to chill.  Thank you so much, Kim!  :)

Here’s my favorite shot from our session, and for the rest of the images, feel free to click HERE.  They’ll be up within the next day.  Thanks for stopping by!  -SR

Isn’t this sweet?  Thanks, Kim!  :)

I met Whitney at Cristy’s wedding.  We talked at the salon the morning of the wedding while the girls were getting their hair done.  It was then that Whitney told me that she had been keeping up with my blog.  How cool!  Somebody other than my wife actually reads this?!  :)  Whitney is definitely a picture person, so I’m thrilled that she called a couple weeks later to book me for a family portrait session.

Whitney and her husband Sean pulled up and out hopped twin 6-year-olds Aaron and Anderson, and then Samson, their beloved lab.  Let me tell you–those two boys are a hoot.  Wow.  They’ve got fun personalities and kept me chuckling throughout the whole shoot.  For this session, we started off downtown Lexington and finished up out at Fasig-Tipton, where the boys got to visit for a bit with the horses.  Thank you, Vitatoe family, for being so cool and letting the real you shine through.  It makes my work not seem like work!

Lastly, thank you to the Pettit family on Second Street who so graciously invited us all into their incredible home.  I think the twins had a nice visit with your grandkids and fish.  You were so kind and welcoming.  I have a sweet pic of you two.  Please email me and I’ll send it over your way!  :)

4 cousins, 2 moms, 1 grandmother, 1 friend, and 3 dogs.  Awesome.  :)  I love this group of folks.  I’ve been photographing them over the last 3 years, and they’re always so much fun to be around.  For this session, we trekked out to the Iroquois Hunt Club off Old Richmond Road.  It was a nice change of pace, seeing as how I’ve been shooting downtown Lexington alot here recently.  Gorgeous scenery out there.  Thanks Barbara, Denise, and Darian for bringing everyone together for this shoot.  I had a good time!

I love having repeat customers!  I was really happy when Jennifer called to book me for a downtown Lexington portrait session for last week.  I couldn’t believe how much Jared and Mia had grown in the short two years since I photographed them out at Waveland.  Jared’s a big baseball star now, and he has a super-supportive family rallying behind him.  You’ll notice in the slideshow a great shot of him and his dad Chris with their game faces on.  Mia’s a joy to be around, too.  She’s got personality for days!

I just want to say THANKS to Jennifer and Chris for letting the kids have fun down at the fountain in Triangle Park.  Mia and Jared were dripping wet by the end of the session, but I’d bet that they made some great memories that evening.  I love that I get to document cool moments!  :)

Cristy and Don are just 10 days away from getting married!  Woohoo!  Their wedding ceremony will be at Stanford Baptist Church, and their reception will be here in Lexington at Keeneland.  I absolutely LOVE shooting out at Keeneland, so I’m pretty stoked!

I met up with Cristy downtownat the Bodley-Bullock house for some pre-wedding bridal portraits.  She brought her mom, sister, and neice for support, and I brought a new lens with me—the Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR .  It was a ton of fun!  Cristy is SO pretty, and she looked absolutely lovely in her dress.  A nice surprise was when her friend rolled up on his Harley during the shoot.  I was, of course, obliged to get a couple shots of them together.  What a hoot!

Kristin and Josh are a hoot to be around!  They’ll be getting married August 2 of this year at Centenary United Methodist.  We’re nearly at the 2 month countdown!

We had plenty of good weather for their e-session, so we made an adventure out of it.  We hit up Gratz Park in downtown Lexington first, then the north side of the University of Kentucky campus (they first met each other at the College of Business), before heading out to Fasig-Tipton(their reception site).  It was there that we met up with their kids, Molly (Great Dane) and Saubi (Boxer) for some shots at dusk.

What a fun family!  Janna owns a pet grooming business down in Chevy Chase called Janna’s Pet Grooming on Romany.  I got hooked up with her through the photography I’ve done for her friends Maggie and Thida.  Before even hiring me for her own family work, she referred Kerri and Jesse to me for a September wedding.  That’s awesome!  When she contacted me about photographing her and Michael’s kids, she said, “Our kids are ages 2,4,6,8, and 10. If you can work with that, you’re the best.”  I’m so up for challenges.  :)

From the get-go, our plan was to have fun.  We started off at the Bell House in downtown Lexington, made our way past the Lexington Children’s Theatre, and then finished up with the fountains at Triangle Park.  Everybody kicked off their shoes, and we let the kids be kids for pretty much the entire session.  Of course, there were times where we grouped everyone together for more posed shots, but I really think that some of the best ones in this series are the ones where the kids are totally relaxed.  They may be in kid-sized bodies, but they’ve got BIG personalities!  I love it!

Kerri and Jesse are hilarious. Sometimes I feel like I’m pushing the envelope a bit with my crazy sense of humor (or lack thereof), but these two were totally ready to have some fun during our engagement session. Once we did some initial shots over off 2nd street here in Lexington, they popped into deSha’s for a quick pick-me-up. I followed with my camera for some shooting, but not shooting. Not that I didn’t want to. I just wanted to be on my best game for the rest of the session. :) We finished up out off of Ironworks. I love the sequence of shots at the end. The looks they were giving each other were HOT HOT HOT! Cool folks, for sure, and I just know that their September 20 wedding at Spindletop (ceremony & reception) is going to be incredible.
